artist Hugh Brading is enjoying success with a dinnerware
range released in supermarkets throughtout New Zealand. Although the dinnerware commission is a breakthrough into a new medium for the mostly watercolour artist, the success has become a little more literal than he intended. |
| The
Chinese manufacturers of the dinnerware have missplet his
name and credited the work on the underside of each piece
to 'Huge Brading'. The mistake has been acknowledged and
will be corrected on his other designs which have been
purchased by the manufacturers and are now being prepared
for worldwide distribution. Another large container load of handpainted dinner sets is about to leave Hongkong for the New Zealand market, and the first of a series of table napkins, printed in Germany using Hugh's grape designs, is now being sold in New Zealand and worldwide. More table napkins using his designs are being printed. His 'Country Florals' placemats are being marketed by Jasons, also worldwide.
