After a career in clothing design, manufacturing and marketing spanning over 20 years, Hugh became a professional artist in 1993. Working with his wife, Joy, in their Warkworth studio and gallery, he has gained recognition for his beautiful watercolour and oil paintings. His popular subjects, bold and colourful florals from his garden, local land and seascapes have sold well. To date over 850 of Hugh's paintings have been sold. He has paintings hanging in private collections not only in New Zealand but also in Australia, Switzerland, South Africa, Canada, USA, Korea, Japan, Indonesia, England, Germany, Taiwan, Ireland, Singapore, France, Spain and Denmark.
Late in 1995 Hugh was invited to exhibit his work at "The Mansion House" on Kawau Island. The occasion being the Commonwealth Heads of Government luncheon hosted by Mrs Bolger.
1996 saw the Bradings on a nine week tour of European and English galleries. The highlight of this visit was Hugh's participation in a major exhibition at Hadfield House, one of England's stately homes in North London, where Hugh's work was well received.
Hugh has won a number of watercolour awards in NZ exhibitions. His work has featured in "Australian Artist" "NZ Gardener" and UK's "Artists and Illustrators" magazines.

His time is full, divided between painting commissions, work for his gallery sales, and his very popular watercolour painting workshops, conducted in Warkworth, New Lynn, and Mairangi Bay. He is a tutor and demonstrator for New Zealand Fellowship of Artists, Mairangi Arts Centre, and other art groups on request. At the recent 'Hunters Garden Marlborough Festival' Hugh was artist in residence. His 'Simple Watercolour' teaching video is proving popular, as is the recent production of table placemats, marketed worldwide by "Jasons".
Finally, Hugh is a working member of the New Zealand Fellowship of Artists, Titirangi Painters and the Mairangi Arts Centre. His gallery is found one kilometre from Warkworth, New Zealand.
